ACS was founded in 2004 but conceptualized many years prior during Chalise’s years as a competitive athlete in the sport of Barbados, where she came to realize the need for specialist care for the sporting population. One that took the time and commitment to determine the causative factors of injuries and as well as provide treatment and rehab specific to the athletes sport or activity with the intention of education the athlete and assisting them with the a "rapid return to work and play".
Chalise sustained numerous injuries during her career but most noteworthy was her Achilles tendon rupture in 2001, through the arduous process of rehabilitation her Achilles and regaining mobility and strength for her to return to competition, she has had first hand experience of the differences between regular therapy versus being rehabilitated by an Athletic Therapist and utilizing the Sports Medicine Approach. She realized the need for specialist care for the physically active and sporting population.
